In what could be a high scoring 4A affair, 4-2 Dakota Ridge takes on 4-2 Denver South in a matchup that shows off some of the state’s best young talent.

I’m excited about the Dakota Ridge vs. Denver South game which highlights two of the top underclassmen offensive players in the state of Colorado.  For 4-2 South watch freshman, yep that’s right, freshman playmaker Phillip Lindsay.  The super quick back is averaging nearly 150 yards rushing on the season to go with 12 TDs.  Four times this season Lindsay has gained over 150 yards. In the last four games he has averaged over ten yards a carry. Along with Lindsay, South’s junior quarterback Tyler Jump has a stable of receivers who have the ability to break a play on any catch.

Countering for 4-2 Dakota Ridge is junior quarterback Bolton Howes. For the season Howes has completed 62% of his passes for eight touchdowns against only two interceptions.  In support of Howes are running backs David Judd and Brent Terrell, who combined, average over eight yards a carry.

If you like offense and scoring this game is for you!  On the season South is putting up 38 points a game while Dakota Ridge scores 36 a game.

Up north in Longmont Friday night, the Longmont Trojans face the Skyline Falcons.  Now sitting at 5-1 after a tough loss to Loveland two weeks ago, the Trojans must not overlook Skyline before next week’s big game against Greeley West.  Throughout the season Longmont has been up and down offensively scoring 28 or more points in four contests, but in the loss to Loveland last week and in a tough game against Thompson Valley, the Trojans mustered less than 20 points.  Skyline, a team that allows nearly 40 points a game, may remedy that situation.  With a win, Longmont grabs the opportunity to play Greeley West for a shot at the Northern League title.
