Notes: “On the Bubble” DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) edged Good Counsel (Wheaton, Md.), 21-20, in overtime in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship. Sophomore Kenny Tate had two touchdown runs, the second of which tied the score in overtime. Matt Campbell kicked the ensuing extra point to give the Stags their third straight WCAC title and fifth in six years.

Notes: No. 9 Park (Racine, Wis.) beat Lincoln (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.), 28-7, in the Division 1 state title game. Junior running back John Clay ran for a Division 1-record 259 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder ran for 2,032 yards and 30 touchdowns on 166 carries this year and was named Associated Press state Player of the Year. He’s considered one of the top recruits in the Class of 2007.
