2005 Rivalry Tour: Lakeland upends Kathleen

The SchoolSports Rivalry Tour presented by Old Spice concluded this past weekend as Lakeland (Fla.) beat Lakeland Kathleen, 42-14, to finish the regular season 10-0 for the seventh time in 13 years.

The SchoolSports Rivalry Tour presented by Old Spice concluded in Florida this past weekend as Lakeland beat Lakeland Kathleen, 42-14.

Lakeland came into its game with rival Lakeland Kathleen a perfect 9-0, but if the first quarter was any indication, that undefeated record was in jeopardy as Kathleen gained 116 total yards in the quarter and raced out to a 14-7 lead.

That’s when the Chris Rainey show started. The Lakeland junior running back is considered one of the top recruits in his class and showed Kathleen why by rushing for 306 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries. His rushing performance helped Lakeland scored 35 unanswered points en route to the 42-14 victory.

The defense also stepped up for Lakeland as it held Kathleen to just 68 total yards after the first quarter. Lakeland finished the regular season 10-0 for the seventh time in 13 years.
