Top 10 Football Recruit Classes: No. 10 Oregon

SchoolSports.com concludes its 10-part look at the nation’s top recruiting classes by breaking down the No. 10 class from Oregon this week. The Ducks picked up four Top 100 football recruits from the Class of 2004, headlined by De La Salle High (Calif.) WR Cameron Colvin.

For the past two months, SchoolSports.com has rated the Top 10 recruiting classes for the Class of 2004, spotlighting a different college each week. To recap, we ranked USC at No. 1, Miami at No. 2, LSU at No. 3 , Oklahoma at No. 4, Michigan at No. 5, Florida State at No. 6, Ohio State at No. 7, Penn State at No. 8 and Florida at No. 9. Now it’s on to No. 10.


No. 10 Oregon

The University of Oregon isn’t usually accustomed to having one of the nation’s top recruiting classes. However, this year was different as the Ducks picked up four players rated among the Top 100 recruits in the Class of 2004 by SchoolSports.com.

Oregon’s most prized recruit is De La Salle High (Concord, Calif.) wide receiver Cameron Colvin, who’s rated as the nation’s No. 22 recruit by SchoolSports.com.

The 6-foot-2, 193-pounder caught 20 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns this past fall despite missing five games because of academic issues. Colvin caught four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the North Coast Section (NCS) title game as De La Salle beat Pittsburg for its 12th straight NCS title and its national-record 151st straight victory overall.

The Ducks added another Top 100 player in Colvin’s teammate, defensive back Willie Glasper Jr.. Glasper, who is rated as the No. 71 player in the nation by SchoolSports.com, was named a Parade All-American after showcasing his all-around skills this past fall. The 6-foot, 185-pounder had 37 tackles, five knockdowns and two interceptions on defense while rushing for 752 yards and 13 touchdowns and catching 13 passes for 221 yards for two touchdowns on offense. He added another touchdown on a punt return.

Oregon picked up one of the top offensive linemen in the country in Bethel High’s (Wash.) Aaron Klovas. Klovas was named a USA Today first team All-American last year after not allowing a sack all season. He’s rated as the No. 73 player in the nation by SchoolSports.com.

Rounding out the top 100 recruits for the Ducks is Corona Centennial High (Calif.) running back Terrell Jackson, the nation’s No. 76 overall recruit. This past fall, Jackson rushed for 2,664 yards and 43 touchdowns, giving him 4,998 rushing yards and 93 touchdowns his final two seasons at Corona Centennial.

Other recruits of note for Oregon include: Two more De La Salle players in linebacker Terrance Kelly and defensive back Jackie Bates; North Medford High (Ore.) defensive lineman David Faaeteete, who had 100 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks his senior season; and Lake Park High (Ill.) defensive back Kwame Agyeman, who was named an All-State first-team selection by the Chicago Tribune this past season after racking up 97 tackles and two interceptions.
